Why Experiential Learning?

Experiential learning activities provide hands-on experiences that showcase the benefits of a liberal arts education. Participants reflect on experiences to determine how they change their point of view, provide new information, or create interest in a new topic or career field. Internships, research projects, cultural exchanges, and community engagement all provide experiential learning opportunities. These experiences also help to improve soft skills necessary for success including:

  • professionalism and work ethic
  • communication
  • critical thinking and problem solving
  • teamwork and collaboration
  • digital technology
  • leadership
  • global and intercultural fluency
  • career management
